"Buckle Up!
It's the Law!" The current Iowa Law states: Children under 1 year of age and less than 20 pounds MUST be secured
in a rear-facing child restraint system.
Children from 1 up to 6 years of age MUST be secured in a child
restraint system, either a child safety seat or a booster seat - NOT an
adult seat belt.
Children from 6 up to 11 years of age MUST be secured in a booster
seat or by a safety belt.
All child restraint systems and seats must be installed according to
the manufacturer's directions.
97% of child safety seats in Iowa are installed or used improperly.
All Children up to 4 feet 9 inches and 80 pounds need to be restrained in a
child restraint seat or a booster seat rather than just a seat belt. Anyone
who provides transportation to children needing a safety seat can call to
schedule an appointment with one of our Child Passenger Safety
Technicians. Car seats are available for a suggested donation. Call
